In math, we have been busy creating addition sentences. We modeled addition problems with partners and cubes.  We learned that the numbers being added are called the addends,  and the answer to an addition problem is called the sum.

In first grade, the students bring home homework twice a week in their “Homework Folder.” On Mondays, the students will be bringing home reading homework. Right now, that consists of a list of sight words and a weekly reading journal. (Later in the year, they will be bringing home spelling words to study.) On Wednesday’s, students will be bringing home math homework. Please return all homework by Friday. Don’t forget to check the students’ “everyday folders” for work that they have completed that day.  It’s going to be great year!
