This week in reading, we read a story called, “Mamma’s Birthday Present.” We practiced reading and writing words with the long “a” sound, using the “er”, “ir” and “ur” sound as well as contractions.
In math, we have been adding and subtracting groups of ten. We learned different strategies including adding and subtracting ten blocks as well as using the hundred’s chart.
In science, we revisited our tree journal. We went outside to look at our tree in the winter and draw our observations. We also worked in our water journal. We learned that water has three different forms. It can be a liquid, solid or a gas.
We also learned about “voice typing” on the chromebooks. So far, we can open a new google doc, change the font, size or color, highlight, add a picture and type with our voice.
Happy St. Patricks Day!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday this week! To honor Dr. Seuss, we had a read-in. The whole school read Dr. Seuss books in the hallway.
This week in reading, we read a story called, “I’m A Caterpillar.” It was about the lifecycle of a butterfly. We practiced reading and writing words with “er”, “ir” and “ur” and contractions with “is”, “have” and “are”. We also read a passage about Butterflies in Google Classroom, highlighted the important parts and answered a comprehension question on the chromebooks.
In math, we have been comparing numbers. Using a number line or a hundreds chart, we can find numbers that are one more, one less, ten more and ten less. We can even add and subtract more than one group of ten. We also practiced ordering numbers from least to greatest and greatest to least.
